Chocolate LEGO: Sweet Building Blocks!

real-life adventures Oct 17, 2020

Creativity and treats often go hand-in-hand, and one of our favourite projects is making chocolate LEGO pieces. With some LEGO-shaped silicone moulds and a bit of patience, we’ve turned chocolate-making into an art (and snack) that we can enjoy together.

Getting the Chocolate Just Right

We start with chocolate drops and melt them gently over a bain-marie, keeping a close eye on the temperature with a sugar thermometer. Gabriel watches the temperature like a hawk as the chocolate slowly melts.

To get the right smoothness and shine, we use the seed method for tempering—adding a bit of solid chocolate to the melted mixture to cool it gradually and help it set well later on.

Pouring and Patience

Once the chocolate is ready, we pour it carefully into the LEGO moulds, filling little bricks and tiny LEGO men.

Then, it’s off to the fridge, where the chocolate sets until it’s perfectly firm. It’s a test of willpower waiting for it to harden, but the reward is well worth it!

Building with (and Eating!) Our Creations

Once the chocolate is ready, we pop our creations out of the moulds and admire our edible LEGO masterpiece—a treat as fun to make as it is to eat!
